Interviews with Engineer
New Product Development
Since joining the GlobalWafers Japan, I have worked in the Technology Department and handled technological development that leads to the development of new products.
Later in my career, I served as manager and general manager overseeing the Technological Department. After that, I assumed the position of executive officer in charge of technology.
I currently serve as Technical Director, a position which is also known as a Fellow. In this role, I handle tasks such as supporting the Technical Department and creating a roadmap for introducing next-generation technology.
Based on my experience, I would like to discuss some aspects of technological development capable of competing on a global scale.

Advantage of us
I am mainly in charge of research and development of annealing technology in the Technology Department.
GlobalWafers Japan (GWJ) possesses two types of annealing technology.
One is called “furnace batch annealing” and the other is called “rapid thermal process (RTP).”
One day, after having introduced RTP facilities and beginning work on various experiments, our group discovered a unique phenomenon occurring during processing at a certain temperature.
The way in which this discovery caused a revolution in our silicon wafer manufacturing technology is the most memorable thing to ever happen to me at work.

New Technology - AI
There are so many different technical areas in the silicon wafer industry.
Crystal growth, processing, cleaning, and annealing technologies are typical examples, but I wanted to have core prowess that would give me confidence as an engineer, so I took on the challenge of obtaining a doctorate (PhD) while working.
Currently, as a new endeavor, I am focusing on the use of AI in the silicon wafer manufacturing process to realize smart factories.
Through these efforts, I hope to make GWJ and the silicon wafer manufacturing field an exciting company and industry.

Industry Analysis
After previously having been in charge of next-generation crystal development and evaluation technology development, I am currently focusing on surveying and analysis of market trends and technology trends.
The silicon wafer industry is an extremely appealing industry that grows together with the evolution of the world.
Although I am still learning, I would like to share my thoughts on the position of wafer manufacturers in the industry, the significance of conducting market research as a technology department, and the appeal of the silicon wafer industry.
